Die 1973 gegründete Produzentengalerie Hamburg ist eine der etabliertesten Galerien für zeitgenössische Kunst in Deutschland. Seit mehr als fünfzig Jahren zeichnet sich die Produzentengalerie Hamburg durch ein innovatives Ausstellungsprogramm aus, dessen Stärke darin liegt, verschiedene Generationen von Künstler:innen – sowohl bekannte als auch neue Positionen – zusammenzubringen.

Die Galerie zeigte Einzelausstellungen von Künstler:innen wie Astrid Klein, Thomas Schütte, Felix Droese, Andreas Slominski, Olaf Metzel, Marlene Dumas, Nicole Wermers, Ulla von Brandenburg, Monika Michalko, Annika Kahrs, Thomas Scheibitz, Paul Spengemann oder Noémi Barbaglia, die im Sommer 2023 ihre erste Einzelausstellung in der Galerie hatte.

Von zentraler Bedeutung für die Entwicklung des Programms der Galerie war immer der enge Dialog mit Kurator:innen und Museen. Werke der von der Galerie vertretenen Künstlerinnen und Künstler wurden in einer Vielzahl von international renommierten Großausstellungen und Museen sowie Biennalen wie der documenta, Skulptur.Projekte Münster, Biennale Venedig, Istanbul Biennale, Lyon Biennale, Sydney Biennale und Manifesta gezeigt. Ihre Werke sind auch in bedeutenden institutionellen und privaten Sammlungen vertreten. Das Programm deckt ein breites Spektrum  künstlerischer Praktiken ab, die medien- und genreübergreifend sind. Die Werke reichen von raumgreifenden Installationen von Ulla von Brandenburg, Performance- und Videoarbeiten von Annika Kahrs oder Malerei von Monika Michalko bis hin zu Skulpturen von Olaf Metzel oder Noémi Barbaglia.

Im Jahr 2012 fand mit dem Eintritt von Gideon Modersohn der erste Generationswechsel innerhalb der Galerieführung statt. Luise Nagel, die seit 2015 Galeriepartnerin ist, war bereits seit 2010 für den Berliner Ableger der Produzentengalerie Hamburg, genannt ph-projects, verantwortlich. Das Programm der Produzentengalerie Hamburg wurde kontinuierlich verjüngt, ohne die bestehende Essenz zu vernachlässigen.

Founded in 1973, Produzentengalerie Hamburg is one of the most established galleries for contemporary art in Germany. For more than fifty years now, the Produzentengalerie Hamburg has distinguished itself through its innovative exhibition program, whose strength lies in bringing together different generations of artists- as well established as new positions.

The gallery featured solo exhibitions by artists such as Astrid Klein, Thomas Schütte, Felix Droese, Andreas Slominski, Olaf Metzel, Marlene Dumas, Nicole Wermers, Ulla von Brandenburg, Monika Michalko, Annika Kahrs, Thomas Scheibitz, Paul Spengemann, or solo show, Noémi Barbaglia, who had her first solo show in summer 2023 at the gallery.

Central to the development of the gallery’s program has always been the close dialog with curators and museums. Works by artists represented by the gallery have been featured in a variety of internationally renowned major exhibitions and museums, as well as biennials, such as documenta, Skulptur.Projekte Münster, Venice Biennale, Istanbul Biennale, Lyon Biennale, Sydney Biennale, and Manifesta. Their works are also part of signifcant institutional and private collections. The program covers a broad spectrum of artistic practices that transcend media and genre. The works range from expansive installations by Ulla von Brandenburg, performance and video works by Annika Kahrs or paintings by Monika Michalko to sculptures by Olaf Metzel or Noémi Barbaglia.

In 2012, with the entry of Gideon Modersohn, the first generational shift within the gallery leadership occurred. Luise Nagel, who has been a gallery partner since 2015, had already been responsible for the Berlin branch of the Produzentengalerie Hamburg, called ph-projects, since 2010. The program of the Produzentengalerie Hamburg was continuously
rejuvenated while still honoring its existing essence.
