Gustav Kluge’s solo exhibition Codex Delta at the Produzentengalerie Hamburg originally refers to a text consisting of 15 paragraphs.
One aim of this text is to organize and contextualize 60 years of drawing, writing, and painting in Kluge’s oeuvre.
The starting point for these thoughts is a sentence from Chinese tradition: Drawing and writing come from one source.
This perspective motivates the painter to include diary entries and letters and to treat them as equal to his works. For Kluge, this statement was a starting point for reexamining the differently oriented European tradition of thought.
Excerpts from the 15 paragraphs are listed and encrypted in a wall text in the exhibition. They represent the author’s conviction that concepts, terms and thoughts are inscribed in the images.

Gustav Kluges Einzelausstellung Codex Delta in der Produzentengalerie Hamburg bezieht sich ursprünglich auf einen Text, der aus 15 Paragrafen besteht. Ein Ziel dieses Textes ist es, 60 Jahre Zeichnen, Schreiben und Malen in Kluges Werk zu ordnen und verorten.
Ausgangspunkt für diese Gedanken ist ein Satz aus der chinesischen Tradition: Zeichnen und Schreiben stammen aus einer Quelle.
Diese Sichtweise motiviert den Maler, Tagebucheinträge und Briefe einzubeziehen und sie seinen Werken gleichzustellen. Für Kluge war diese Aussage ein Ausgangspunkt, die anders ausgerichtete europäische Denktradition neu zu überprüfen.
Auszüge aus den 15 Paragrafen sind in einem Wandtext in der Ausstellung aufgelistet und chiffriert. Sie stehen für die Überzeugung des Autors, dass Konzepte, Begriffe und Gedanken in den Bildern eingeschrieben sind.
